Non-metallic fixation of transverse patella fracture using non-absorbable polyester suture

This study aims to evaluate the functional outcomes for fixation of transverse patella fracture (TPF) using a transosseous suturing method with non-absorbable polyester suture. A retrospective case series was conducted on 37 patients who underwent open reduction and internal technique suture at Lower Limb Department, Hospital Traumatology Orthopaedics, Ho Chi Minh City, from 1/6/2020 1/6/2022. Results showed that surgery time 37.43±9.76 minutes; average follow-up 8.57±5.35 months. The results facet joint after bone healing were 100% (very good good); 14.22±2.78 weeks; rehabilitation 13.84±3.3 knee function according Lysholm scale achieved very score 97.62±3.7 points; no hardware-related complications in study. One patient fell again broke kneecap; satisfied treatment, especially reason there need second get instruments. In conclusion, TPF is safe effective does not require instrument collection during mean period
